Executive Vice President of Legal & Compliance at Yokogawa Corporation of America

  • George is a frequent writer and speaker on AI, including its usage and practices in the in-house world. (see, e.g., https://texaslawbook.net/corporate-policies-on-the-use-of-ai-tools-a-qa-with-yokogawas-george-nino/).  
  • George serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Yokogawa Corporation of America (YCA). He has similar roles with another Yokogawa company, KBC Advanced Technologies (KBC). YCA and KBC’s ultimate parent company is Yokogawa Electric Corporation, a company this is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and has over 17,000 employees in a global network of 129 companies spanning 60 countries.

    George’s areas of responsibility for these companies include contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, business ethics, intellectual property, and corporate governance. Given Yokogawa's international operations, George often works on legal matters, including trade issues, with colleagues in Asia, the European Union, and Latin America.

    In 2023, George began researching the legal risks and benefits of companies using generative artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT. He also posts information about this on LinkedIn, including how to use ChatGPT to help draft an AI tools usage policy and why companies should consider implementing this policy.
